5. United Way Sam Adams- Don’t not panic and make sure to keep an eye on Sam being saved in the pool, he looks more like a dead fish than Squintz in Sandlot.

4. Any The Rick Commercial – Okay, so this is only an outtakes segment, but it is the culmination of all that made the Rick my hero.

3. I Am Tiger Woods – Disguises at their best.

2. Tracy Morgan NFL 2k Football - The same guy that wants some discharge on his big mac, drops more one-liners than David Spade.

1. Any Michael Jordan Commercial- Watching a Michael Jordan Gatorade Commercial makes you feel like you need go try to find buy Gatorade in a glass bottle. Watching a Michael Jordan Nike Commercial makes you feel like you want to go fight with William Wallace in the big battle in Braveheart.

I’ve always been a fan of both “Chicks Dig the Long Ball” (Greatest ever) and the Jason Williams/Randy Moss Nike Commercials.

  2. Mark on July 9th, 2008 9:29 am

How bout the series with “Terry Tate – Office Linebacker”.

  3. Ryan on July 9th, 2008 9:31 am

how can you leave out “office linebacker”…

  4. John on July 9th, 2008 9:31 am

I vote for the “Bo knows” commercials from the early ’90s.

  5. Brian on July 9th, 2008 9:37 am

How can you forget the “Mean” Joe Greene Coca-Cola commercial from the 70s… when he tosses the kid his jersey… has to be number one!

  6. Diesel on July 9th, 2008 9:40 am

MJ commercials make me cry, they are so good!

  7. John on July 9th, 2008 9:51 am

This is the worst list I’ve ever seen. You don’t even have Terry Tate on there…

  8. Zane on July 9th, 2008 9:59 am

Yeah, I agree . The Nike “Chicks Dig the Long Ball” spot with Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine still stands up today.

  9. Shane on July 9th, 2008 10:08 am

Don’t forget Dennis Hopper as the referee in the Rebok commercials. Those were always good.

  10. Anonymus49 on July 9th, 2008 10:15 am

What about Terry Tate office linebacker?

  11. Bill Palmer on July 9th, 2008 10:16 am

I agree with what you guys are saying, 5 definitely wasn’t enough. I went with some that don’t get enough credit like the Rick and Sam Adams. Also, The Tracy Morgan 2k commercials were the greatest thing ever, they were the reason I did the post.

  12. JohnE on July 9th, 2008 10:17 am

The Mark Messier Doritos commercial. “Got a hair dryer”
and to top it off they are watching figure skating at the end of the commercial.

  13. Joel on July 9th, 2008 10:17 am

There’s a few glaring omissions here, “Chicks Dig the Long Ball” and the Vince Carter “Dr. Funk” commercial. How about the Gary Payton “Supa ‘Fro” commercial. You missed some huge ones my friend!

  14. Joel on July 9th, 2008 10:18 am

    Shoot, Terry Tate too!

  15. Steve on July 9th, 2008 10:57 am

Lance Armstrong’s “What am I on?” commercial.

Tiger Woods’ winning the British Open as a 5-year old.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz47-PtrAyw

And of course two iconic sports commercials: Jordan and Bird in “The Showdown” and Tiger’s golf ball dribbling commercial.

  16. Griz on July 9th, 2008 11:14 am

I gotta give it to #3. I know I haven’t seen this spot in forever, but I never noticed “The Great Hambino” (from the Sandlot) before. Check out the 28-29 second mark. That might even be Kenny DeNunez on the right also. All they need is Smalls for a foursome.

  17. JH on July 9th, 2008 11:26 am

You are obviously too young to remember all those great Miller Lite ads from the 70’s and 80s. Athletes had stopped pitching cigs by then, but they could still pitch beer and booze with their public image intact. Good times.

  18. Tut on July 9th, 2008 11:30 am

This is probably the worst list I have ever seen.

  19. Nic on July 9th, 2008 12:05 pm

The middle Jordan one – with all the young kids imitating his moves from memory – is probably the best commercial of all time.

  20. Chris on July 9th, 2008 12:15 pm

The middle Jordan one – with all the young kids imitating his moves from memory – is probably the best commercial of all time.

  22. Robert on July 9th, 2008 1:10 pm

The 1994 MLB strike commercials with Ryan Stiles were classics too. I believe the tag line to the commercials were “Play Ball…please”.

  23. JT on July 9th, 2008 1:10 pm

Everyone hit the first two I thought of (the Terry Tate, Office Linebacker series and the Glavine/Maddux “Chicks Dig the Long Ball”), but what about some of the ESPN “This is SportsCenter” commercials?

They may not count as purely sports, but some of them over the years were really funny.

  24. Eric on July 9th, 2008 1:31 pm

What about the MJ/Spike Lee Nike commercials: “It’s gotta be the shoes, money!”

  25. Mike on July 9th, 2008 2:15 pm

Wow what a what of bandwith. That Tracy Morgan commercial is just him grasping at straws trying to remain relevant from about 4 years ago (Spoiler Alert: He doesn’t.)

If you actually took the time to compile a quality list ,none of these would crack the top 10. You can probably find like 150 other blogs that have done this already, and probably correctly at that.

  26. Bill Palmer on July 9th, 2008 2:29 pm

For the most part it looks like people don’t agree with my taste in advertisements. That probably explains why I’m the only person in the world that sat down last night and watched a Shot at Love 2: 1 Shot 2 Many, with a laptop open watching mlb.tv.

  27. BILL on July 9th, 2008 2:38 pm

    WHAT ABOUT LEON?

YEAH THE LAST PLAY I THINK I HURT MY PSYCHI! WITH ALL THE FANS BOOING IT HURT MY FEELINGS PRETTY BAD!

    CLASSIC

  28. xmasApe89 on July 9th, 2008 2:39 pm

what about the baseball tonite commercials where peter gammons, harold reynolds, and karl ravech replay old baseball films….

  29. Bill Palmer on July 9th, 2008 2:48 pm

The Baseball Tonight commericial that parodies the natural is the funniest commercial I have ever seen, but I could not find the video. Karl Ravech deserved an academy award for his performance when he handed over the savoy special.

  30. AwYup884 on July 9th, 2008 2:57 pm

Dude, the one that cryptkeeper watches from the opening scene of tales from the Crypt where Jimmy Hoffa rizes from the end zone in Giants Stadium to make a touchdown-saving tackle was lmao. You should of had it here as #1 or maybe #2 becasue mj is pretty cool.

  31. Traivs on July 9th, 2008 3:34 pm

I always thought the snickers commercial with the “Great job, but who are the CHEFS?” “Great googily moogily”

  32. Bill on July 9th, 2008 4:08 pm

These are like the 5 lamest sports commercials ever. Tiger Woods? Please. That is so annoying to watch.

  33. Tom Jones on July 9th, 2008 4:14 pm

These are no where near the best. No Miiller Lite commercials? No “Leon can’t do everything”? How can you make this list without one beer comercail?

  34. Vinny on July 9th, 2008 5:26 pm

“Chicks Dig the Long Ball” is the greatest sports commercial of all time.

Three of these don’t belong on this list. “The Rick” is terrible. I am Tiger Woods is a running joke. It’s good like Plan 9 from Outer Space is good. And how could anyone mistake something Tracy Morgan does for funny??

  35. cam on July 9th, 2008 6:00 pm

Middle jordan was possibly the greatest of all time, and the rick’s were great too. But any list without LEON is one that can’t be taken seriously.

  36. Brian on July 9th, 2008 6:50 pm

+What about the great NFL United Way commercials – especially with Duce Staley where he has to spell chrysanthemumm but the little girl get cat

Also, the Snickers commercial, where the QB is knocked silly and he knows he’s in Philadelphia, that the guy is coach, but when asked who he is, he responds “I am Batman!”

  37. Mike on July 9th, 2008 8:11 pm

What about Brandi Chastain and Kevin Garnett?

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=HV9jcsuj-G0

  38. Terry Tate on July 9th, 2008 10:40 pm

What about Terry Tate, office linebacker? That is perhaps the best sports related commercial ever!!!

  39. Thomas on July 10th, 2008 7:22 am

Hey dude, watch some LeBron James commercials.
