The Other Side Of College Sports

April 22, 2009   Leave a Comment

This comes from Collegehumor and is classic.

Sports are much different in college than they were in high school. In high school sports were all about school spirit, competition, and winning. In college sports are about trying to impress other people and having something to talk about to strangers at parties. This is why you must be very careful about which sports you play on the weekends. Here is what you are saying when you pick your sport in college.

Ultimate Frisbee

Soccer

Football (if played in high school)

Football (if didn’t play in high school)

Table Tennis

Lacrosse

Golf

Yachting

Rugby

Unicycle

6-Year-Old: Most Likely To Commit Suicide

I just came back from the bar so, enough said. However, you can only imagine the amount of beer that she is going to make unsuspected college co-eds drink when she comes to America for a real education. Hopefully, her ping pong skills will not lead to a life of gambling, sex and alcohol. Man, I can’t wait for the next John Daly.

The Michael Phelps Theme Song, Too Bad He Never Actually Went

Hopefully, he competes in 2012 and walks up to the pool playing this song. And then get caught with a bong again after he wins a few golds. He could be Van Wilder, but never spend one day in class and possibly continue to have a life that people dream about. (other than having to wear speedos)

Yes We Can, Buy This Shirt

I am a t-shirt connoisseur who has been collecting more “Sucks and Swallows” t-shirts than I know what do do with (starting with the timeless phrase Dallas Sucks, Jerry Jones Swallows). However, I am definitely more likely to wear a clever t-shirt such as the one that states “Jeter Drinks Wine coolers.” Here a couple over the top ones involving Mike Tomlin that will definitely stand the test of time, unlike this one which won’t make sense in 8 years.

Was He On MTV's True Life?

Jan. 8, 2009   1 Comment

I fell into some cash lately and was looking for a way to make it exciting and I came across the upcoming fight this weekend between Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson. I figured UFC betting was the way to go because for a while now I have been under the assumption that  Rich Franklin was featured on True Life: I’m a Muay Thai fighter. And also for a while now, I have been completely wrong. The fighter featured in that episode was Kit Cope who went on to get a season finale of the show Ultimate Fighter, but pretty much did nothing else. Take a look at the two (Franklin, Cope) and you’ll see that somebody who watches as much True Life as I do could easily make the mistake. It also could have been that I was distracted by thinking about True Life: I have Tourettes, which was the greatest episode ever. I actually looked into an MMA fight not involving Kimbo Slice for once and realized that there can be a little intrigue. Here’s a sweet video that breaks down the fight and has a little HBO 24/7 feel. It is also complete with Joe Rogan analysis so you know it’s the real deal. Personally I am putting my Christmas money on Franklin who sitting at even (yes I have gotten back into sports betting, hopefully this time I don’t put my entire balance on horses in the Kentucky Derby after a good bit of Natty) and has been favored by a former opponent.

Phelps' Ain't Got Shit On The Decathlon

Bryan Clay of the decathlon is latest to come out and try to take a dump on the Michael Phelps hype. In the meantime, gold medalist Clay declares himself to be the world’s greatest athlete because of the range of skills that he had show on the world’s greatest stage. I’m just trying to figure out why this story broke from OK! Magazine? This source could mean that Clay is going to start singing the national anthem, a little like someone else.

Phelps To Host SNL

Michael Phelps is going to be making his acting debut Sep. 13 on Saturday Night Live. The musical guest is Lil’ Wayne, the best rapper alive should have been the host in my opinion. I’m just waiting to see which SNL featured player dons some speedos.

Pro Slamball Player Slams Wife

sports089a.jpgJulie Donaldson of Channel 7 in Boston testified yesterday in her assault case against her boyfriend. This story wouldn’t be very relevant to me until the article states that her boyfriend, Ivan Lattimore, is a professional Slamball player. I’m just glad that this made news because otherwise, I wouldn’t have found out that Slamball will be coming back to tv this August. When it comes back, Lattimore may be in prison , but Stan “Shakes” Fletcher will be doing work on someone’s face.

This one definitely wasn’t as close as the match. I hadn’t posted today, so I settled with a picture that is to small, but you get the idea.
