David Feherty, the Irishman golf commentator for CBS dropped this bomb in a magzine article. He had this to say in a discussion centered on former President Bush moving to Feherty place of residence, Dallas, “From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East â€¦ despite how the conflict has been portrayed â€¦, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, thereâ€™s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.” He eventually apologized for the comment, but man, I can’t wait to see him go head to head with one of those political talking heads. Classic television would clearly ensue.

Here is a video I saw today on collegehumor and it has some sports relevance, so I thought I would post it. Bernhard Langer hits a ball into a tree and it stays there, he then climbs up the tree and plays the ball onto the green. Finally, I heard the announcer call him sparkling white and shining bright, what does that mean? He had so may opportunities for other references, but he chose one that didn’t make sense at all. “Bernhard is so high right right now, and using some wood to his advantage. His wife would never believe this.” That would have been more appropriate in my eyes.

Okay, it didn’t happen on the championship course and he didn’t even play at all, a guy was actually on fire, and not like Denzel, at the 11th tee on the Buddon Course at Carnoustie. The greenskeeper who spotted the burning body had this to say to the Scottish Sun, “I got a fright. I donâ€™t really want to talk about it. Itâ€™s not something you see every day.” Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be a lot calmer during my next 18 knowing that “it’s not everyday that you see a guy acting out that Jonas Brothers song.” Wow, a Jonas Brothers reference, ouch. So with that greenskeeper news comes some Bill Murray, so you got that going for you.

Days after winning his 14th major title, it looks like the Willis Reed of golf is going to require surgery on the knee that gave him so much pain in the process of his victory. A stress fracture caused the obvious pain that Woods suffered in the 91 hole odyssey. Woods will be out the rest of the season which includes the upcoming Ryder Cup, maybe we can get Rocco on the team for sure now. This does make this past win more impressive as well as quelling rumors that Tiger is in fact a cyborg built for golf and fist pumps.

Caught this coming through SI, I guess this guy named Paul Prudhomme is a world famous cook bas in New Orleans. He was preparing food for the players at the upcoming PGA Tour event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and he felt a sting on his arm. No, John Daly was not involved, he was grazed by a falling bullet, unfazed he continued to cook because you know what, Paul Prudhomme is all heart. I personally think the bullet came from the US Airways pilot or that photographer taking a preemptive strike at Tiger.
